A Precarious Balance

Our first mermaid siting on Kama'ole Beach I.

This is the first time we've flown an airplane on a family vacation. At the end of our flight to Maui, the kids were given a tour of the cockpit. Here are the boys sitting in the co-pilots seat.

We stayed in Kihei near Kama'Ole Beach I, also called Charlie Young beach. We had lots of fun boogie boarding and body surfing.

A good part of our vacation was spent on the beach. Here's a shot of the right hand side of Big Beach.

Here's a shot of the kids playing in the surf at Big Beach. This beach had strong waves and a steep slope. I was quite nervous about the kids playing in the water because it would pull back hard after crashing onto the shore. In the background, you can see Molokini crater to the right and the island of Kaho'olawe to the left.
